In the Mango canvas system, there are two types of groups: Student groups and Group sets.
Student groups can be created by either the instructors or the students themselves, and students can manage their own groups.
Group sets, on the other hand, are groups created by the teacher for assignment purposes and to collect scores.
Open the left menu and select People.
In the case where there is at least one group already created in the course, the Everyone page will be the main page displayed on the People tab. This page shows all the members within the course. You can add a new Group Set by clicking on the [2] button.
When a Group Set is created, it will be displayed on the top tab [1]. You can click on it to view the subgroups and the complete list. Additionally, you can click on the three-dot button [2] and select "View User Groups" [3] to open the first page of the Group Set and view the course.
Student groups can be created by the system, created by the user, or imported using a .csv file.
Normally, student groups are subgroups within a group set. You can view the list of members within a student group by clicking on [1].
Once students are added to a student group, you can access the option menu by clicking on the three-dot button [2] to view details of assignments and activities within the group.
In the case where there are inactive students in the student groups (students who do not participate in group activities), a gray label will be added to the back of their names. These students' assignments can still be graded in SpeedGrader, but they will not receive notifications about their assignments and will not be able to view their grades. Additionally, these students will not see the mentioned status label. To ensure an effective group activity experience, the instructor may consider changing groups so that inactive students can participate in group activities.
Open option menu [1]
To edit groups set, select [2]
To copy groups set, select [3]. Copying will copy everything in the Group Set including student group, group leader, and group members
To delete group set, select [4]
